Schur function averages for the real Ginibre ensemble

We derive an explicit simple formula for expectations of all Schur functions in the real Ginibre ensemble. It is a positive integer for all entries of the partition even and zero otherwise. The result can be used to determine the average of any analytic series of elementary symmetric functions by Schur function expansion. PACS numbers: 02.10Yn, 02.50.-r, 05.40.-a, 75.10.Nr

Path-ensemble averages in systems driven far from equilibrium

The Kawasaki nonlinear response relation, the transient fluctuation theorem, and the Jarzynski nonequilibrium work relation are all expressions that describe the behavior of a system that has been driven from equilibrium by an external perturbation. In contrast to linear response theory, these expressions are exact no matter the strength of the perturbation, or how far the system has been drive...

Pauli-Potential and Green Function Monte-Carlo Method for Many-Fermion Systems

The time evolution of a many-fermion system can be described by a Green’s function corresponding to an effective potential, which takes anti-symmetrization of the wave function into account, called the Pauli-potential. We show that this idea can be combined with the Green’s Function Monte Carlo method to accurately simulate a system of many non-relativistic fermions. The method is illustrated b...

Topological quantization of ensemble averages

We define the current of a quantum observable and, under well defined conditions, we connect its ensemble average to the index of a Fredholm operator. The present work builds on a formalism developed by Kellendonk and Schulz-Baldes [1] to study the quantization of edge currents for continuous magnetic Schroedinger operators. The generalization given here may be a useful tool to scientists looki...
